Vermeer SC352 blown motor

Hello, I'm new to the site, recently purchased a non running 352 with the Diahatsu diesel, its looking like the motor may be blown. Wondering if anyone has recently done a motor swap to the Briggs gas or if there's another compatible motor? I see some old discussion about this issue, it sounds like the Diahatsu is not a good motor.

you want something that is the same hp at same rpm or at least very close
if you can match mounting pattern and clutch/shaft connection that makes job easier too
might check small engine warehouse and see if they have a 35hp engine
a small kubota or yanmar or deutz would work

Thanks. I have a small Kubota in an old bobcat articulated loader and a Yanmar in a Komatsu mini ex. Both are good motors.
