I could use a little insight on something I am observing on both of my 2 year old trees. Since I know VERY little about trees, I'm not sure I even know exactly what they are. I believe that I was told they were Water Oaks (if I heard correctly, and if there is such a thing), or possibly Live Oaks.

Regardless, this summer, wasps (the small ones and Cicata Killers, those huge ones) are constantly on them, although I have not seen any nests. My concern is that these trees are now exhibiting a great deal of sap and the outer bark is almost completely black from it from the branches down. I have not observed this on any other trees in the neighborhood. The leaves appear to be fine, but since this didn't happen last year, should my trees be doing that this year? Thanks to anyone who can help.
