Hardy says, use rain water. Drought has depleted my supply, do have access to well water. Hardy claims chlorine is main thing to stay away from, and this well is old time hand dug type not deep. Advice appreciated, getting cold here.
 
It's chloride that you want to stay away from. (Salt) get some test strips from your dealer or online that test low end chloride

I know the manual says 15 parts per million or less but that's just about impossible to get down to. I used city water that I tested at about 35ppm. Bought three 55 gallon plastic drums, filled them up and brought them home. Used a sump pump and flexible hose to fill the stove.

For re filling I have a drum attached to my rain gutters and just put a gallon a week or every other week in there. No problems at all

Test your well water though, sometimes you are good to go. Mine was too high in chloride.
