Ladies & Gentleman, A family member has a tree in his front yard that none
of us can identify. This tree looks like a weeping willow but has pine
needles like a xmas tree. It's age is about 50 years and stands 25 feet' It
is located in Pompton Plains N.J. The pine needles do shed in the fall
unlike a actual pine. Can you identify this tree or tell me who I might
contact that would know? Thank You.

I believe it is a Golden Larch tree (Pseudolarix kaempferi 'Annesleyana'). Ironically, there is a post in the Trivia forum regarding the larch tree. By the way, I grew up in Bloomingdale, just up the road from you. Born in Chilton Memorial Hospital. One of my first employers was Timberland Tree Experts in Towaco. OK, enough about me. Good luck with the tree, its rather unusual being a deciduous conifer.
