Ok tree-experts, I really could need some help on this one.

I have two chestnut trees in my garden, that were, at least up to last year, the two best growing and nicest trees in my garden.

on chestnut 1 (see pic) last year, I noticed during summer that the leafs were getting brown very early, and also the production (nuts) was very low. It appeared that many branches were really dying. I waited untill spring to see how the tree would behave. Many branches are indeed partly dead (except for the top), but many new sprouts do appear, especially near the stem. This tree's shape is pretty much ruined but alas.

The other chestnut 2 did not have the same problem, but does not have the full leafs as usual. We faced a very harsh winter with temp up to -24°c, but don't know if that could be the reason.

It seems that both of my trees, although with different symptoms, are having some kind of disease.

any tips ?

thanks
roland
