I was kickin’ around the idea of bringing a Husq 51 back to life a couple months ago.
Ordered a meteor piston kit and cleaned up the jug a bit. The case leaked oil so I might as well split it and replace the case gasket, I will need the case splitter. If I was gonna split the case I may as well replace the bearings & seals. If I gotta replace the bearings I figured I might as well throw in a new crankshaft as the threads were chewed up on the original. If I’m gonna do that I may as well find a another flywheel. Figured I should replace all the rubbers while in there so I went ahead and replaced all the hoses, manifold, impulse nipple and fuel filter. Can’t put a dirty worn out plastic bulkhead in such a fine piece of machinery so I ordered one of those and grabbed a couple new air filters cause they’re cheap. Oh look.. those muffler bolts are pretty cheap too (add to cart!) but I couldn’t possibly put a rusty muffler back on them shiny bolts so probably should throw that in the order also. Of course I’ll need that there specialty tool to pull/push the oil pump worm gear duh. Replace recoil cord cause.. why not? And I couldn’t possibly put the nasty old bar and chain on so I ordered a new one, but that calls for new bar nuts
I also went ahead and ordered a bunch of duplicate tools, another work bench for more room, compression tester, tachometer, heat gun, everything Wiha, a new impact driver, dremel and all accessories.
I plan to reuse the old spark plug as I didn’t want to piss off the wifey by spending too much on a saw I’ll probably just give to my brother in law to straight gas
