What happened to my tree?

Came back to the house after a bad storm rolled through and after fixing an outlet i walked out of my garage and noticed the tree. High wind causing it to split or a lighting strike? the bark pieces were launched to my garage which is 25' away

Probably not. Wait to see if the tree shows further signs of distress. Sometimes the strip of blasted bark is the only injury, sometimes not.
