Has it been "rebuilt" before?
Looks like a circlip went ballistic ....
It looks like a pin to locate the ring made that gouge. How can an 661 be old?

The worst damaged saws I have ever seen in my shop, including the 461, are saws used by tree service company personnel. They beat them up and cause the goofiest damages of them all. Their new saws become old very fast.
That's because most ground men are clueless as to how saws should be treated. And they dont care either! Believe me I have seen them in action and they can ruin saws in about 5 minutes!

nope. they had me box it up and giving it back to em monday to be used as a parts saw for the rest of their fleet

Of all the power tools I can think of, I do believe that chainsaws receive the least amount of respect and get abused the most.
AND........everyone thinks they know how to properly use them.............

i thought so, gives me the chance to try to talk them into a Dolly since they need a new saw and arent exactly thrilled with life they got out of this
My 7900 is sure a nice smooth runner.
if they would give up the cylinder it is still usable.....exhaust port and one transfer is nicked up but it would still be useable. just throw away the second ring and reinstall the piston....File out the ring grooves and throw some new rings in it.
Now how do we go about rigging the big end rod bearing?
