What to do??

I removed a couple of poplar trees a few months ago. I ground the stumps about six to eight inches down below grade. I was by the place this week and noticed that the trees are gowing back through. Is there anything that I can do to kill the SOBs with out grinding more out or wrecking the grass on top of these? Thanks
