the 97 98's were the strongest, and they had some different parts in the pumps... I'm looking for one right now actually
I'm talking 600 hp plus. The common rail do it but not as easy. Need 2 pumps or a huge modded one. Then drive ability tends to suffer over 600 hp on any of them.don't know where your getting all this performance is better out of the mechanical **** man LOL they done away with them for a reason. sure it's really gay when an electronic pump goes but they are far more reliable then a mechanical pump. only ones i ever seen go really were run dry.
My brother has a little trunk car fox body with a 6.0 and a large frame 88, bone Stock ls and 20psi made 900 at the tires and on e85 and we couldn't get it to hook on the chassis dyno. It makes me pass out or puke. It's fun to pass on the interstate I. A ugly old Mustang and pull it back in 2nd and spool it up at 80mph and blow 10.5 drag radials off, freeks people out. Runs low 5's in the 1/8 and gets over 20mph with the air on. Sounds like a old 5 litre till u get on the skinny pedal!600hp on any engine designed for about 200 hp is going to start to have driveability issues... One of the Rx7's I worked on made 875 RWHP @ 50 PSI (race gas).. it was a beast, and it was daily driven, but was it 'driver friendly'.. certainly not. My car was 400 rwhp and that was very touchy... diesels of course don't get as touchy as quickly, they have so much more rotating mass they're pretty forgiving that way... turbo lag is always a big factor on any big power machine, you gotta wait and wait for it, and watch out when it hits.. .it's fun as heck when you know what you're doing.
Just curious if any can say that they never bought new.

The guy who has the most money wins.sled pulling, like just about any motorsport now requires VERY deep pockets... it's kinda too bad.
What got me was pulling one class with trailered in trucks pulling against guys with a programmer and clutch. When they started letting that stuff in I got fed up with it. Now they run 2 classes semi local to me. One guy was pulling a mod class truck in the street class. 5-6k rpm p pump against the street trucks. 7.1 stroked duramax and a few others with $100k in the trucks easy.sled pulling, like just about any motorsport now requires VERY deep pockets... it's kinda too bad.
