I'm thinking about a 60ish cc saw and since I'm happy (so far) with my Dolmar 420 I looked at a 6400.What I don't get is it's the same size, weight, fluid capacity and dimensions as a 7300 and 7900 so what's the point?Probably to be used for felling since the Popular weeds in my woodlot have grown since the last cut(and those boys both used 7900's).Should I wait around for the mythic 6100 or find a 359/2159(yes I saw the one in the trading post)?

Nations Capital....seriously
With the ps6400, Dolmar finally also offers a 2-Stroke-engine using "stratified scavenging", to fit european future emission protocols.
According to Stihls MS362 and MS261 or the new Husky-Models such as 560XP and 576XP.
(The principle from ps7900 to 7910 is, however, quite different and just uses some backward reflection in a special muffler.

Seems that the 60cc-region is a good size to start, the feedback in Germany till now is positive.

The PS/DCS6400 isn't a strato saw, the all new PS6100 is.

The 6402 has a cat in the muffler, but is otherwise the same as the old 6400/6401, ie. based on the 6400/7300/7900 chassis.

The point is that it is roughly 2/3 the cost of the 7900, which in my area equates to about $300.

So if the 6400 gets whatever job you need done, why spend money you don't need to?

You know this would be a whole lot simpler if someone would find a recoil cover for my Alpina 700.I don't like it when tools and guns talk to me from the store shelves.

What size bar is it going to run? If it's 20 or 24" consistent, 6400 has all you need for $300 less. And it has plenty of power to pull a 28"- I ran the local rental store 6400/28" and it pulled strong. Now, if you were wanting to pull over 28...time to hit the credit card hard! Either way, the 6400 is built like a tank, and is priced right.

6400/6401/6421 Who cares what model you get... The Cat mufflers can me modded and you can always throw a BBK or and OEM 79cc top end on it later if you want more power. With the money you save doing the conversion yourself you can buy a HDAF to throw on it too!
