Why does eBay change my saved searches? (chainsaw content!)

Like many of you I search for particular makes and/or models of chainsaws on eBay, & I save the searches of most interest to me. Since I check them on a regular basis, I save them as (cut directly from eBay) Sort by:Time: newly listed.

For some reason unknown to me eBay will switch Newly listed to Best Match. This happens in the searches that don't receive many new listings, for example Rigid chainsaw.

Any ideas as to why eBay makes the above-mentioned change?

I have seen the same thing and also wondered ...

.. about this behavior when running the search 'live.'

I do know that if you do a search, then 'drill down' into the results before trying a different search within that category, it will bounce you all the way back out to 'All Categories.'

I don't see this in the results returned every day by my email notifications.

What drives ME crazy is when the daily automated email notification stop, current outage is at two days for me.
