I have 4 katsura seedlings that I planted in my rear yard in early July; each are about 12-24" in height. What is the best way to care for them during the winter months?

I don't know about Katsura, but rabbits, deer and rodents get a lot of small trees during the winter.
Another good tip is to water it in real well toward the end of the season.
Mike...that first tip sounds good if Brian was concerned about caring for his rabbits, deer and rodents... ha ha ha..."feed them small trees during cold Winter months."
I guess I would build small wire enclosures for them...the Katsura trees not the critters. Let the creatures wait on relief supplies from FEMA. Collect the carcasses in spring.
