wood question

can someone tell me what teak looks like? is it light or dark? i thought it was as dark as mahogeny (sp) but i guess i was wrong . and what is teak good for? i mean is it a hard enough wood for bookcases and such? sorry im just a ditz about this stuff. thanks

It's pretty light like most woods. I would describe it as fine-grained with a lightly-rough character to it. Perfect for benches (and they make a lot of 'em). In the sun and elements, it turns to a silver gray color.

Wow. :eek: That's interesting. Cuz I like totally noticed a lot less mahogany when I was like there in September compared to like the last time I was there.

I just stumbled upon a nice grove of bubinga and zebrawood. It was hiding in amongst some hemlocks. Why is everybody going to the tropics for this stuff?:D
 
I dunno. Still looking for a market for all the palm I cut down yesterday.
