I had to buy two cords so far this year. I ran out and the snow is too deep to get out in the woods to bring in more. I snowshoed out in the woods and ringed a few trees with the tops blown out to dry. When the snow melts and the ground dries a little bit I can go back out and start cutting and hauling. A friend of my dad's used to girdle trees for firewood. He'd pick trees that were crooked or were on their way out, ring them in the winter so they'd dry faster.
