pictures of my owb I am building

Nice build!!! As the others have said, do not skimp on the underground pipe. I'm not looking to start an argument and I know the one guy had good results with the pipe he mentioned that is wrapped with the bubble type wrap but I also read where he mentioned no ground water problems in his...

Need a bit of advice outdoor woodstove..

Stay away from Bubble Crap. First install was with the 80' of three wrap bubble wrapped pex in the drain tile(flimsy black pipe). It was filled with ground water within a year and was buried about 2-3' down. I could plant flowers in February where the snow melted off. I burned over three...

    Taco circ pumps - lifespan?

Well figured out the problem. Guess there's a reason I'm a cop and not a plumber. Sure enough, the pump was flowing the wrong direction. My mistake for installing it while I was in a big hurry. Thanks for the info and suggestions. Ray

    Taco circ pumps - lifespan?

Jon, good info to know. Ran into a problem this morning that I didn't have time to fix. Temp at boiler is 175, while temp in house is 125. Air locked line? Maybe I mounted the pump wrong (flow direction). Well have to deal with it tonight when I get home from work. Ray

    Taco circ pumps - lifespan?

Hmm this is interesting. I've had the opposite scenario happen with my pumps. I have gone through 2 Grundfos pumps on my wood boiler and just decided to change to a Taco, where as I've not had to replace one Taco on the inside primary loop(6 pumps-5 007, and 1 0011). My system has been up and...

Got a load on your OWB yet??

Filled my boiler last night before i came into work, 10:30pm and this morning when i got home at 8:00am, it had a huge pile of hot coals and some unburnt logs left in it. By 10:30am it had burned all the wood and coals down to nothing(basement floor kicked on). I filled it back up and at...

    1st night with my OWB

Ya the shaker grate model is both a coal and wood model. Just as the other guys said it will be really nice when you aren't getting those LP bills. Filled mine up 3 years ago and still sitting at 35% for the last two years. Ray

    1st night with my OWB

Glad to hear it worked nice for you. I have an Empyre 250 that is basically the same model as your Cozeburn model, and after some underground insulation problems were fixed, it has worked great for me. My house is a 2000sqft home also, and my boiler seems pretty well matched to my needs. Does...

    Inside programmable thermostat for owb?

I have my high limit set at approx. 145deg. on my propane water boiler inside the house. The primary loop runs through the propane boiler and then into my heat exchanger. If the OWB goes below 145deg. then the propane kicks on. I have programmable thermostats on two of my loops. It is nice...

OUTDOOR Wood/Coal Furnace Reviews/Experience--Please post here...

Have heard good things about both stoves. I know a family that swears by Hardy and their entire neighborhood is covered with Hardy stoves. I just spoke to a Heatmor dealer the other night that has had his running for 10yrs and swears by it. I, myself, have an Empyre and love it. It's...

Whats The Smallest Wood you bring home to burn?

I help out my dad with gathering his wood, so we get down to 2-3" diameter, which makes loading his little potbelly stove easier. He has me cut it to about 10-11" long and it is really easier for him to handle(75yo). It's a pain seeing that my wood is cut 24" long and can be left in 12"...

What part of firewood do you like the least?

I hate stacking. It takes away from the fun of the whole job. I love burning wood and even going out to the OWB at midnight in single digit weather to load it. Ray

    Outdoor Wood Stoves. Got one?

"if you want to be happy with your system and to run as best as it can get as much info as you can so your not doing it twice." AMEN! Thats the best and only way to put it!!!! I thought I had enough information. I read about all the boilers and their designs, materials manufactured with...

    Outdoor Wood Stoves. Got one?

"cbrslider what size coil do you have in your furnace?" I don't understand what you are asking. I don't know anything about coils in my furnace. I have hotwater baseboard on my first and 1/2 story, then radiant in my basement floor. The outdoor boiler water comes from the boiler to a heat...

    Outdoor Wood Stoves. Got one?

"And how much did that cost compared to using the correct type of pipe? Look into the energy it takes to melt snow. ANY snow melt is significant! ANY snow melt from pipes 2’ underground means serious heat loss." I agree that it is a problem. I used a thermometer and only found a...

    Outdoor Wood Stoves. Got one?

I have an Empyre 250 and have used it for two winters. I have a brand new home and have unfortunate but very serious heating issues within the house. They are not a result of the boiler but rather very shoddy heating installation. I went through 18 cords and that's full cords last year alone...

Is this normal (Husky 365 leaking a small amount of gasoline)

My 365 does the samething. I have had it back to the Husky dealer about 3 times and asked about it. He said the vent "weeps" fuel when the tank is over filled. Overfilled? Wouldn't that mean there is no room in the tank for fuel and it spills out? My saw has done this since it was brand new...
