Got some good billets out of a huge madrone burl I've been sitting on forever. First shot is a 1" thick teaser board, second shot is a 17"x17"x7" block

Nice burl! Pacific Madrone is the only evergreen broadleaf flowering tree that sheds its bark. The natives called it 'Naked Lady.' A subspecies is the Texas Madrone.
 
Hugging a nice big bare section of branch that just shed its bark is a great way to cool down in the summer heat. They hold a lot of water
