Dumpin' a Snag with the 880 (video)

One question and not lookin to get flamed and dont mean to be giving you a hard time or anything. But what makes that tree a snag?

Maybe its just different terms for different areas of the continent but I always thought a snag was a tree that had fallen and caught into another tree or was just a nasty old twisted or broken tree.

Snag = dead, deseased or structurally unsound tree that poses a hazard in the woods. A tree that's hung up can be "snagged" and if left that way could certainly be considered a snag. Nothing wrong with your ?.

If I keep modding saws in the shop, I will be 8 ft wide. Gonna start workin' out this week, well, maybe.

:agree2: Handling an 880 or 084 is not for everybody. Slinger makes it look easy, but it really ain't. Impressive chip making machine that is...:greenchainsaw:

My 660 with the 36" bar is almost to much for this old man.
Watching this video I learned a much better way to make the second cut on the notch. (I always miss-judge and cut too much)
Just wish I could cut with one of you pros for a couple days...hard to say how much I could learn!

Thanks for the learnin' I just didn't realize at first it was dead.

Anyhoo still an awesome vid. I like the chips flying off the top of the 880's bar when he puts her in for the notch.

Good video. How many revs is that 880 turning? It sounds good, nice and smooth, but it's got a higher pitched sound than I'm used to hearing . Modded like that, well, it just makes me want one. LOL...and I don't need another big saw. I'll just keep telling myself that.

I dunno what it was turnin' there, it was 4500ft. It was the exact same chain as the first 880 video. Infact, same tank of gas. Only the second tank in the saw, ring's still aren't seated.

Hot saw, hot chain! That undercut is harder to do, your back barring into the wood where the chain does not just pull you in the same.Takes a good sharp chain and strong saw to make it look that easy (just kidding, nice form). You have a nice set up there Slinger.

Good elbows too, my elbows start hurting after a while of boring face cuts (tennis elbow=MS-880 elbow?). Great show Sling'R and that saw rocks. I can't wait to see what you end up with after your mod your 7900s.

I think they kind of grow on a guy, kind of like the Flowbee.

Definately need the HP to cut upward like that! Cutting like that would be very tiring even for the most fit and strongest person if done all day. I didn't see any chaps being used though - to each their own! Sounds like at least a muffler mod. - are the ports done? You said that the rings weren't set in yet, did ya go up a size or put in a big bore kit or hone it oversize any?
Sounds really good and looks like it performs even better!

Ya might want to look at his other thread on building this saw... a little more than a muffler mod in this one!
