Very nice Laird I think lean-to's offer most bang for the buck... got 2 here.

Here's the woodshed we are building. Photo taken this afternoon. It's 10ft. x 40ft. and has five bays. It will have an 'eyebrow' on the front when finished. Each bay is 8ft. x 8 ft. Recycled pallets are being used for the roof support and recycled sheet metal for the roof and three sides. Post are in the ground 3ft. in cement. Wood will be stacked on recycled cement blocks. The pallets are not cut off yet on the rear overhang.

are those pallets you used for the roof , I plan on doing that

Laird- Good looking woodshed- you might to add hurricane- correction tornado clips to the rafters if you have not done so- it wiil help with the high winds- nice work!

Great looking woodshed!

With some gutter and a couple of 275 gallon tanks that roof would be a great catch for rain water.

Yes it would be a good collection area. I'm just not sure what I would use that much rain water for. What all is it good for?

I use rain water to keep my boiler topped off. no minerals in it

Yeah that was the one use that occured to me but I could collect enough in a bucket under the dripline. I was just wondering what other uses people use rain water for.

As a kid I remember using it for bathing and washing clothes and topping off 12V batteries. We got our drinking water from a pitcher pump. Just not sure what applications it has nowadays.

Shove a pressure washer inlet into the water containor and wash your truck/cars etc to get the winter grime off. Not sure if you guys have the roads salted but when we do, you can almost see the rust grow!

you shed-builders out there: how much are you paying for galvanized roofing per sheet?...Blowe's / Home Despot around $13.50/ for 8' x 24' sheet.

Shed looks great, nice work. Would you come over and build me one if I gave you free beer? I'll let you kill all the hogs you want too. :)

I want to build a wood shed but keep equating the cost to years of propane. A wood shed would heat my home for about 2 years.

Laird & TreeCo -

If you boys ever went to sell your houses, you could market those woodsheds as carports.

Looks like Laird's is next to an existing garage. Not sure of TreeCo's in relation to the road access, but there must be reasonable access for you to get your firewood to the storage site.

We're lucky. Our house has an attached barn. We use the disused horse stalls for our winter supply, moving it in after the first hard frost. It's real nice being able to go out and get the day's fuel supply in my slippers.

I'll cycle back to this thread for inspiration if my daughter successfully lobbies her mom for a horse when she's certain to go through that phase. :)

Had some rock delivered yesterday and spent last evening spreading it. I have a few odds and ends to tidy up and will start moving the firewood into it this weekend.
