This is my first post on this forum and I have some problems!

I have a McCulloch MacCat 38cc Model cs38 16"

Every time my buddies and I go to cut wood, I am the slowest in the group and my chain cuts like crap. Their saws are not bigger than mine in cc but they cut faster. I had one of my buddies sharpen the chain, but it didn't help and they keep making fun of the saw (and me!). Can anyone give me some advice on how to mod or make the saw kick my buddies butts?!?

P.S. I am not going to get a new saw.

If you feel the problem is the chain and your saw is running ok, try going to Bailey's.They are a sponsor of this site. (just click on the icon at the top of the of the page). They carry the 3/8's low profile nonsafety chain. This chain cuts far better than all of the factory chain that comes stock on all the smaller chainsaws. There prices are fair and the service is excellent. Good luck beating your buddies the next time around. Rick!

I'd have to say buy a real saw! or maybe You can get there a few hours before You're buddies and start knawing on that wood and make some undercuts then You might have a shot at it. It's hard to compete against an Eagerbeaver, Wildthing, or craftsman. Can You brake the limbs off?

Maybe this one would do better. LINK

Wow! Thanks for all the help even though I said I didn't want to buy a new saw. My buddies are running the same P.O.S. machines that I am (small engines, green in color, but I don't know the type) and their's run much much better. In fact, I think I have the biggest cc motor in the group. They all run stock chains, etc.
