One of the interesting things I've found after joining this site is that many members share other intrests. The most popular seems to be firearms. So, which one means mre to you? If you coul only keep your saws or your guns, which would you keep? Now, obviously if you make your living with either of these you'll have to seperate your work gun/saw with your personal ones. (can't have a law enforcement officer without a gun or a timberfaller without a saw). So, which means more to you?

My guns no doubt,

but if the right 166 came along I would be tempted to part with one.

Anyone who would knowily give up their guns is simply immoral, in my book. That would be a travesty to this country, but that is how things are going.

My opinion,

Sam

That is really a tough call. I have lots of guns and have been a hunter all my life. I have used my guns to put lots of food on the table over the years. I am not a target shooter and the guns, to me, are for food and protection.

The saws are much the same thing. I am retired now, but my saws are making me some money and keeping my house heated with firewood. I am to the point that I think I enjoy running the saws more than messing with the guns, though.

Can I just keep two of each?

I certainly didn't intend to turn this into a political, right to bear arms type debate. I have both saws and guns and my livelyhood has nothing to do with either. I don't even heat with wood and I'm too fat for a tree stand lol. My saws and my guns are toys. Their only purpose is my entertainment. As far as toys go, I'd rather keep all my saws than all my guns.

I think that maybe we need to start a National Chainsaw Association to protect the saws from the EPA. That way, I could be a life member of that fine organization, too!

If you keep your guns first, you can keep your chainsaws 2nd. You can't say that about the chainsaws.

Enough said,

Sam

Man Nik,
I got to thinking about this from another perspective, IF you were the man assigned to confiscate which would you rather try to take away from a man, 1) a man with a loaded and cocked 1911A1 or 2) a man with a running 372 (28" bar and finger on the trigger). Now we are talking tough choices.

I'd give the saws first, or the ones they might know about.

?? Why?? With the EPA you get saw companies making awesome saws like the 361,362 and 441 with plugged up mufflers. They have to build extremely great saws with a lot of thought behind them and inside them to work with that plugged up muffler, mostly to get the most power out of a gallon of gas.

Now here is the neat part. Just drill larger holes in the muffler and VIOLA! you have a non-EPA saw that has much, much better techno stuff and go fast engineering than that old crap/vintage stuff hobbiest like to run.

As an individual that makes a living based on board footage, I want speed and efficiency .......... if I can be comfortable (read AV) while the speed and efficiency is working, then so much the better. I don't know about other saw companies, because I only run Stihl, but Stihl saws keep getting better and better, sure you have to unplug them, but that is just a "right of passage" so to speak, and keeps the idiots from getting in over their heads, LOL.

My opinion,

Sam

I have both saws and guns...

I thought you crazy canadians didn't like guns. Maybe that is why you transplanted to the US

I have quite a few in-laws that are canadian; they are all afraid of guns. They think guns are the worst thing in the world, and don't understand why we like them.

I`m a long time shooting and fishing man. Saws are relatively new to me. Both however give me immense pleasure and a reason to be out the house. Both also contribute to family welfare in the form of meat and logs.
Both saws and guns are indispensable. I can think of only a couple of instances where i might need to choose one over the other:
If i was out of work, but then i would just thin out both, but have some of each.

If i met a woman who didnt approve of shooting or saws. In which case she would be history.:)

Hypothetically speaking i would keep my guns.

I really want to reiterate that I didn't intend this to be political. I fully support an honests law abiding individual having the right to bear. I actually wish Canada had more reasonable gun laws. I just wanted to know which would be easier to give up. Running saws for fun or shooting guns for fun.

You can blame the countries laws for that. More criminals there have guns (hand guns that is) than honest people. Remember, laws only affect those who abide by them.
