And last but not least... something i found interesting.

This big beach tree had some irregular growth to the bark and such... so I looked it up and its referred to as "Angel Step".

Supposed to be more common on other types of wood.... like sugar maple. This tree is gonna stay.

This is not spalting nor is it hard(sugar) maple. you have soft maple there in the last photo. And some of the other ones sure look like soft maple to me. That spalting is worm track cause by the ambrosia beetle.

I dont know, there are definitely some hard maple on the propery as well as silver.... this looks much more like the hard stuff found elsewhere

Nice score. What I wouldn't give to cut a tree that didn't have a crotch the first 4 feet.

Is all that yours for the taking????

For the most part. Owner of property had a milling project set up, so any nice strait healthy stems he wants to keep for the mill. Otherwise there is a LOT of cutting to be had

That is marking from the Ambrosia bettle, Spalting is a different pattern caused by fungi, no matter it is cool. Folks that turn wood on a lathe would be intersted in those pieces as is. Try posting pics on the turning forum you may have iterest, Joe.

Not TROLLING, 40 years in the woods and sawmill, qualifies me to KNOW!

Anyway for the rest of us mortal humans, Ill be back at it again this weekend..so some more pics commin:rock:
