And we have proven over time, that the 441 is one example of exactly that. For a long time all you read was how much weaker the 441 was and how it didn't take to mods. That was simply not the truth, period. It was nothing more than fear and/of lack of understanding what was new.

Ill tell ya what brad, build up your M-Tronic 441 and ill build up my 50mm 044 and we'll have us a showdown. Whatch say?

Could be, but sometimes when people get an idea in their heads something is bad, no matter what the truth is, it's a POS. I see this all the time, with all walks of life.

To stir the pot some more the Husky auto tune seems smoother and smarter, IMHO it's the better of the two systems.:potstir:

Well put Andre. And I can surely attest to how good the Husqvarna autotune is. Metals, for what it is worth, I just absolutely love it. You just have to run one to understand.

I say it would be fun, reguardless of the outcome:clap: However, just being the fastest doesn't make one better than the other, in and of itself. I prefer a 044/440 myself, but much of the technology in the 441 is far superior to that in the 440. They are very strong stock and take very well to mods. I simply don't like the added weight, bulkiness, and overly complex construction. In those reguards, Husky got it right with the 372 XT.

For the dollar amount of 441 you can buy a 6CC bigger saw that is old school and is a proven saw. The 441 is fine for someone who is not depending on the saw to work in life and limb situations. The newer cars are a joke, you have to be a computer programer to work on them. The old cars were no brainer to fix. We have become a society that has lost the repair it your self attitude. I learned to fix throw away saws just to be able to get work, and now we have to have a computer do our thinking for us no thanks:dizzy:

Weight, bulkiness and complexity. U hit it on the head.

The fact that you don't know how to tune your own car, has no impact on whether or not it's a better system. Matter of fact, I do tune my own vehicle computers. Old school doesn't equal better. On the contrary, new usually equals smarter and more efficient. I call that better. You just have to grow your skills with the technology being used.

There's some truth no doubt, but even the 575 had AT carbs and from what I know they worked out fine, the rest of the saw is another story.

I don't know mang. . . Sam got one of the 575/576's -- and had nothing but problems. Went back to old iron for timberfalling. Again, the saws were acting funny.

How many of you M-Tronic guys are over 1,000 feet elevation?

I still think these issues may be elevation related.

Unless you plan on reprogramming the EPROM, or whatever hard memory they use, I don't see why you'd need to be a computer programer to work on one. I also have doubts you know what a computer programer does.

Care to explain that? Seems to me that cars last FAR longer than they used to, require far less maintenance, and get far better fuel mileage.

Brad, I knew a guy in the mid 1980's, driving a 1970's Honda car, and was pulling like 45mpg. . . Now all these new cars tout like 30 HWY, and toot their horn like they just invented sliced bread.

And small Diesel cars do better yet. Weight is a big issue even with small cars these days, all those no good electronics and safety equipment. That's it I'm buying a horse.:jester:

The 70's and older cars only needed a volt meter and a good ear to repair, the new ones need a computer to tell you what went bad. The older rigs can be got running in short order if something is wrong. Why over complicate a simple tool:confused: I have a 68' International that is easy to fix and 90' import that is impossible to work on with out a code scanning computer.

If the new technology is so bad then maybe we should go back to posting letters and dont use the internet any more ?.Do you have a mobile phone ?.

Well, I wasn't going to "out you", but it was your saw I mentioned to the tech. I told him I thought it was ballsy, and seemed to be a hell of a saw. :)

Besides elevation, I think maybe mods might make it run better than stock , and possibly stop the silliness that we're experiencing here with them. They (the dealer) can't mod any saws, or they risk getting their Gold status pulled. I'd like to see what a mod'd 441 would do here.

What kind of exhaust opening is Stihl putting on the new 441 M-T -- a 1/4" hole?
