I think that saw cuts pretty well. I know it is not the monster you had hoped for yet, but look at the results. You took a tired old 064 and invested some time for sure but no where near the cost of new Stihl parts and that saw is ready to go to work again. I look forward to seeing the new pistons results.

You said you raised the ports 2 degrees, since I don't use a degree wheel yet could you estimate how much that is in thousands.

I've not touched the ports in this jug at all, it's just like it came from Baileys. This saw runs great, perfect really. I'm most interested in seeing what can be done with this kit from a performance angle.

Stay tuned. :)

yeah I am waiting for the upload video . I just recently posted my 064 running . I hope to get video today of it attacking some wood . I went the other way I guess 185 psi compression from milling the base down on a H@L supply bb kit. Its hard to hold the phone thats videoing and work the trigger but it got some video.

I would avoid the H&L Supply kits. The ones I have seen are of a very low quality.

What if?

Would you please measure the ports and lets compare my last jug that went boom to my newest from Grande Dog.

I know you thought my saw was way to lean and was sucking air, but I think the sound in my video was just the double barrell exhaust mod and I raised the ports a good bit, and widened evry thing a bunch.

Could we compare a pencil rubbing, and compare port area, and muffler port.

Also from your standpoint would raising .050 or .060 be too much. I have to check back but I think the exhaust is up at least .040".

Raising the exhaust on these kits is a mistake IMHO. They have a bunch of exhaust timing to begin with. In my line of thinking (with is far from perfect) the upper transfers is what need work.

Did you degree your saw?

Didn't u say that u had the carb screws out something like 3 turns? That baby was sucking some air somewhere....

No I do not have the cases fom Baileys yet they are back ordered. I will do it.

Please give me a clue what the measured height is, just from the top of the port to the base.

I'll try to tomorrow, but that saw is at the bottom of the to do list right now.

My bench is covered with Husqvarna 385s right this minute.

Yes I think it was L=1.5 H=3 and with another 1/2 turn on either it got too rich.

The saw ran very well, stronger than stock, and had prety wide torque compared to stock.

I just got done returning 2 of the H&L kits. They are some of the poorest quality piston and cylinder kits available IMO. Nikasil is chipped around the ports horrible on both kits. Looked like the ports were cut out with a blowtorch.

I will take some pictures of the jug from H @L along with the box it came in . Its funny Bailey's sells this same product line but I guess its a matter of opinions as to who's box get's the best product inspectors.
Been buisy trying to get shop heat going before pipes freze. Some on here say my saw has a problem also but after watching the 064 videos in this post . I aint going to fix it I would be backing up in my opinion.

As Grande Dog has posted in another thread, there are copycat companies selling look-alike BB kits. Bailey's kits are made in Taiwan, the copycats are typically made in China.

Have you tried the 395 piston yet Randy?

Funny you should ask. :)

I'm working on that right now. I'm swapping the BB top end to a 066 though. This 064 is a very minty saw, I'll probably end up with an 066 top end on it. I'm looking for a .125 thick piece of aluminum to build a spacer out of. Then it's on.

I finally had a chance to get the 395 piston in the saw. As it sits right now it has the following port timing numbers.

Exhaust Duration: 166
Intake Duration: 154
Blowdown: 25

OR

From TDC

Exhaust: 97
Transfers: 122
Intake: 77

This is with a .040 popup and .025 squish. That left me .098 above the top ring BTW.

I machined a .125 aluminum plate to go under the jug and cut the skirts to just clear the case.

(pics later)

I've ran out of time today to fiddle with it. I report back after I do the port work and check compression. One thing is that the 395 skirts are much wider than the BB piston. I should be able to make a real runner out of the combo.

me likey dem numbers....

Any way to get the exhaust near 100? Should be good intake wise....

Mastermind which part of Tn you in. I am in Main . Main part of Tn Cleveland. Would like to sling saw dust some time with you.

I think it looks pretty good right there. I'd think 166 should be fine with a .040 popup.? Seems the bigger CCs like a little more exhaust,, My expierence anyways. Intake turned out good!

I think it should run real well Randy, Especially since its got some Husqvarna parts in it!!:laugh:

OK here's a few pics. This thing might be running tomorrow.
