Mr. Landrum do you run stock clutches on your hot saws? My ported 395 will smoke a clutch if you let it and always wondered if anyone has done any aftermarket work on the clutching on saws. Know there ALOT out there for sleds

running a 20'' bar in small 10 or 12'' soft wood doesnt seem to be a problem. some of the guys running bigger bars out west making single cut runs may have a few more problems but ive not heard of any.

I run my Slingerized 880 with a 9 pin 3/8 on a 3003 mount 36" bar and it's been fine.

Good to see you back dude. :msp_biggrin:

You can get any size rim you want on Ebay. Theres 8's, 9's, 10's, and on up. I'm going to pick up a couple 8 pins for my saws.

Ha thanks bud! I prolly wouldn't have been banned in the first place but my darn phone posted it twice and I think the mods thought I was throwing it in their face which was no intention of mine. But ya I have plenty of 8's. which is plenty fast enough for my works saws. But I wouldn't mind seeing a masterminded 660, my 395 and soon to be 3120 pull a 9 pin and see how much it takes to run one

You have to modify the bar studs and bar to make a 3003 bar fit the 084, 880, 090 series saws. It's the only way to make a lightweight bar fit one of the big Stihl's. But it's really worth it on the 880 if you stay with 36". It seriously changes the handling characteristics of the saw. It's not near the pig it was with the standard bar.

I've seen them for $1400 or so pho brand new sitting on a shelf at a dealer.
That's more like I would expect. $1,800 is a joke, especially PHO.

But those cinder blocks will really pull a 36" bar with an 8 pin and full comp like nothing.:msp_tongue:

Roll tide was running a 9 pin with a 36" on the 395XP I built him at the WKY GTG......till he slung the chain.
A 390 or 395 will do anything a 3120 can until the bar gets longer than 36". We showed that last weekend. Far lighter, smaller, and cheaper.

BTW, my 084 wears a 9-pin for work, even with a 50" bar buried in Oak.

Yes we did:rock:

Do you have problems with you 395 rattling screws. I think I'm ping to have to go back through it with another round I loctite. This weekend I lost one screw o the top cover next to the handle and the other two under the air filter cover came loose. Then one out of the muffler bracket came out. That's one thing I really don't like about the 395 is the one muffler bracket bolt actually protrudes into the oil tank and if not in will spew oil everywhere

I havent had the first one come loose, which I went through and loctited just about every screw on the case.
