I sadly agree with ya on that one. I want to mod it very soon. I have been poking around on here reading about muffler mods for the strato styled systems, and I have not found much. Only thing I found was a member saying that it was not worth modding since it would only boost your power a pinch. So if anything I am gonna ditch the safety chain as soon as I wear it out. Then I want to pop off the limiters and tune it just a tad bit richer on the low, and much richer on the high. Does not have the torque I am use to....just a bunch of unnecessary speed. I think by doing that it should help out a little if anything.

Getting rid of the safety chain will be the biggest improvement second to that will be th muffler mod. I don't know who said the muffler mod would'nt make much differnce but they are full of it...

Well I did'nt take the time to work on the 4000 today...I ended up going to cut some wood and let me tell ya that it don't get much better than running a total 7 tanks ran through a couple of good running 245's and then about eight clear glass bottle millers to relieve the pain. Heck who needs a 4000 anyways when ya got 4 good running 245's and you're waiting on the mail man to bring another...

Four 245s and another on the way..and they all run? You SUCK :msp_mellow:. What do you havea long with that ten 306s?

So what could be done on the muffler? Make the exhaust exit hole bigger or drill another one? I hear that the two halfs to those mufflers like that are crimped together so its extra hard to get em apart.

I would'nt worry about getting them apart myself...just add another hole and make it about 1/2'' to 5/8'' in size and retune the carb. (or you could just sell it on the bay and buy you a couple of more poulans:msp_wink:)

I could not bring myself to get rid of that saw. It was a gift to me from a relative for cleaning up some down trees on their property. I got it since it was brand new and I was the first one to take it out of the box and run it. I do love that Husky tho. It is a good saw but like anything, im always itching to make it better....if it can be.

I have had over 300 saws and I was the first to use ALOT of them because there was ALOT of them that were new. I'm glad you like your saw though.

It is probably 1 of the 2 or 3 that I would never get rid of. or 4...or 5...lol. Man 300 is quite a few. I am sure that you have a whole list of em that you wished you would have kept.

I don't have anything that will measure the difference between 1.875 and 1.880 This is what I use. I set the position of the hex nut to the bore diameter and insert it thru the exhaust and lift up, if it fits then I know it is pretty close. It could be 1.880 because it has a little slop in the bore when set to 1.875.

I was just correcting myself. Without bore mics and the cylinder off it's pretty hard to measure 0.005. I do like your screw and nut idea. I just use a tongue depressor, mark it with the piston and measure. They are only Walmart ones calibrated to +/- 0.005 LOL
