yes just about as nice. The were used but maintained. Air filters look like new. The C-5 ended up being a C-72 and the XL-12 ended up being a super with both oilers. The C-72 has been switched over to 3/8 chain...it just keeps getting better, cool leather scabbard with a pouch for the scrench.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Watch out for the bar being wrong for a C series Homie. Both of my C5's and the 2000 had bars for the smaller models. The oiler hole won't line up and the clutch cover clamps the rails shut on the drivers.

Not unless the saw was bought back in the spring of '07 from a seller who's in the McKenzie River area....eh Bob?

Also, I thought you'd like to know that the C-5 parts saw you sent me a few months after that has helped at least a half dozen guys here over the years.:msp_thumbsup:

Most likely I bein' one of 'em............................................................................:msp_biggrin:

I also resemble one of them peoples.

i spose its possible i'd be included in that select group of saw junkies.

Yessir. You have parts from two different C-5's that I've parted out. That Micro is now a runner BTW. Crank seals were the main issue. PTO side was BAD.

you can tell where he's cleaned, there's a trial of mini macs behind him.. don't know if it's just bread trail so he can find his tool box

Careful youngster, or I'll drop some more mini macs on your shed floor...:jester:

excellent on the micro. i suspected at least one of the seals. where'd you get the seal(s). OE or AM? if AM what are the numbers, i've got 2 -3 more that need the same thing.

AM is SKF 4913. OEM (both Poulan AND Husky) is 530019059. I bought four from my local Husky dealer for something like $4.35/each. Local bearing house guy looked at me like I had two heads when I gave him the SKF number. It was close to quitting time and he couldn't be bothered methinks.

This crankshaft seal is also used on the Homelite XL2/Super2 series saws BTW. That's why I got 4. Two for the Micro, and two for a buddy's demon XL2 that I've been fighting. There's the Homelite content.:D

a mini would be a welcome site compared to the husky 45's another as member left here..

also i got the big tubes of jbweld unopened and a wildthing waiting for the day that you'r not home all day..

(to the uninitiated i've been threatening aaron with jbwelding a wildthing to the middle of his shop floor, idling)

I grabbed this at the scrapyard today for $5. I guess someone spray painted it red, because it's flaking off and everything underneath is blue. Thought the engine was seized, but when I took off the muffler to have a look, the piston looked fine. Hmmm.... Since the SXL 12 I got last weekend needed a B/C and a clutch cover, I figured I might as well pull them off this one. Chain is Homelite, bar is an unmarked hardnose. Then I see that someone has swapped on an Oregon rim sprocket system and find that the clutch/drum is froze up.

Here's the nasty exhaust port with a thick layer of carbon. I spray a bit of oil on it to help loosen it up.

Here's a look into the spark plug hole.

I guess I should find a service manual for the XL12's. I *think* this one would be a woodcutter again with some minor work.

Hey guys i just gave one of my SuperXLAO's to my dad n kept the other 2.

I was thinkin, how would i be able to get more power out of it? Looking for.something simple and inexpensive for now.

Any idea guys?

Super EZ running!

I finally spent a little time and got the ole Super EZ going. I found a coil for a points saw, a Super 2 I think, and put the coil on the frame of the EZ module then installed it, along with the Nove II chip installed slightly behind the flywheel on the bottom inside of the saw, fit perfectly. It fired up on about the second pull and ran as well as it did with the original ignition. I was lucky on that one, being that I wasn't sure what kind of coil I had.

pictures please

Is there a difference between a points coil and an electronic coil? I have 3 EZs and I think one could use a Nova chip, which I have so pictures would be great for positioning.

Thanks,

definitely. if you have EZ's you probly have the points model. might be that the later versions of the EZ had electronic but i don't think so. if you have the SEZA you probly have the electronic setup although i do think the earlier versions of the SEZA might have had points. if you have wires coming out from under the flywheel you got the points type.

Yes, later versions did have electronic ignition. That's what I've been working on all this time. I replaced the electronic with a points coil then used the Nova II chip to substitute for not having points. I think one way you might tell the difference is that the starter grille is made of metal and chromed on the older ones and it is all plastic in the later ones. I'll try to come up with some pics.

Here's a pic of the blue module that came on the saw and a pic of the Nova II and black points coil installation. Since the pic was taken I removed the square nut on the Nova and rounded it off for a better fit. I believe the black coil is from a Super 2 which I put on the EZ lamination. I really wasn't sure it was going to work but it works great!
