Is the Shindaiwa 377 the Best 40cc saw ever made?

No. Arguably probably not. But I have an interest in someday possibly obtaining one. Are they still available new in some markets? Canada, maybe?

These saws really impressed me. 377's and 488's were standard when I started reclearing power lines and I was very skeptical, but they are great at small tree and brush cutting. We also used them a lot to climb with and cut from the bucket truck as well. Not very powerful though I have to say and I personally went with a 346 and 338 for my personal small saws as the Shindaiwas are no longer available. The best thing Shindaiwa ever produced in my book is the B450 clearing saw. Durability-Power-Weight-Ergonomics the standard by which all are measured for me.

It's full retail from back in the day. I bought my last 352 for $345 with my pap back in the day... I think I'd try to spend a lot less than that. They are fantastic saws though and may be worth it to you, but they're obviously not flying of his shelves. ;)

My local feed and seed guy has 2 or 3 new ones sitting around his shop. Is $389 a good price on the 377?

Thanks for replying! $389 sounds steep, more than I would hope to pay, but that may be what it would cost to own one. Would you mind PMing me with the info of the dealer?

Yeah, kind of confusing. I knew echo bought out shindaiwa and there would be no more "shindaiwa" branded saws. And they disappeared from my local feed and seed shop only to reappear in the last couple months. Maybe it's just new old stock from their distributor, not sure really.

They no longer sell saws in the states. Parts are still available. Like Brad said, build quality is excellent. Stout and full of professional grade features. These little saws run forever.

You sure about that? Not the impression I'm under. I have a very clean Shin 446s but can't seem to find much in terms of parts. I'd like to know if it is indeed serviceable, goes directly to value.

I believe it was Echo's owner that bought out Shindaiwa, and not Echo - but I'm not really sure.

Edge and Engine was the resident Shindaiwa dealer for this forum. Can anyone confirm they are still?

Shindaiwa part store dot com also has most parts available.

Baileys also sells Shindaiwa parts but at a hefty markup.

The 446 wasn't in production as long as most of the other models. No idea if that is the reason you can't find parts.

Edge and engine shut down their Internet sales... Shortly after assuring me they would "have parts for some time".

Dandy little saw. Just not sure what its future serviceability looks like.

Got a link to shindaiwa parts store? Takes me to a recently registered domain name with no site.
