Does anyone actually run 50:1 in older saws like an 056? If I remember correctly the recommended ratio was 16 or 32:1. Or is it just on newer saws?
I've run 50:1 synthetic in my 076 a K100 cart & everything else i own since around 1991, i have a an 090 in the process of being rebuilt & have no hesitation in running it on it as well once it is up & running. I've never had a 2T meltdown, but i could have if i didn't stop once the saw seemed to go out of tune, they don't just jump out of tune for no reason, something is usually mechanically wrong.

Just ordered a liter from ebay.may look at the local stihl/cycle shop next time.seems like all they had was the belray h1rr and maxima 927.

What are you running?
Ran stihl orange bottle.then during the summer i'll run a little maxima 927 but that is only 2-4 gallons which doesn't last too long.started on a couple of gallons of h1r a while back.still have nearly a full bottle of that left.figured i would try the motul 800 and see what its all about.being synthetic i hope it doesn't do me like the stihl ultra.

I been running Amsoil about 3.5 years now no problems it cost about 8- 10.00 a quart I'm OK with that.

may try amsoil and lucas next spring.thanks to jake wells he talked me into using motul for a while.once for once its just a tad bit more expensive than stihl orange.
i do have a small plastic pouch of amsoil but seems like it was only good for a gallon at 100:1.of course to switch to only a half gallon at 50:1 would kinda be a waste for me since i can go through 4-6 gallons of mix in a good week.

Buy a dozen quarts at about ten bucks each.

i stocked up the bike shop had it on sale for 15$ per liter i got a little over 6 liters now. the thing about motul is no smell but it lacks decent fuel dye but does have dye in it.

i see people with 08s or 028 or even 075 saws running 50:1 in them they seems to survive on the diet nicely.

We run 50:1 here in America because that is how many states we have, it is a patriotic thing mandated by the EPA. Not sure how that translates up north in Canuckistan.

Gary,
10 provinces and 3 territories = 13:1. We can run any kind of oil at that ratio plus it keeps the skeeters and black flies stoned.
