I just purchased a couple of used Mahle cylinders online for a price I couldn't refuse. One is a 48ZD4 (48mm open port) and the other is a 50ZN13 W6 (50mm closed port). Can anyone tell me what saws these go to?

Is the "W6" significant or is it simply a indicator of the 266 casting version?
that I dont know.
I found the information on the forum to Magnus Mahle 50ZN13 belong to 266.

My 266 is probleby from 1986, it has the bigger carburator, decals on starting house 266xpg, same on top cover. Mahle cylinder is 50ZN11 W2.

I see you also got carburetor with your cylinders, please check what carburetor you have, can be easier to confirm what you actually have bought.

I'll do that and post the info when I get them. The guy I got them from must have bought out the remains of someones business and he did not have a clue what they originally came from.

Ok, so I received the cylinders today and they look like they should clean up well. The 50ZN13 W6 (closed port) has a Tilly S224A60 carb and the 48ZD4 (open port) has a Tilly 254A606 carb. Does that narrow it down?

I am not familiar with the 61.

IPL 266, 85 month 6, they swap from Tillitson HS 163A over to HS 224A.
IPL 266, 87 month 11, carb changed to HS 224B.
IPL 266, 88 month 6, carb changed to HS 224C.
IPL 266, 89 month 3, carb changed back to HS 224A.
And off course, you can't trust Husqvarna IPL that much.

Well this discussion just became acedemic because when I cleaned these up, each had a problem with the plating. On the 48ZD4, there was a small bubble (3/16" long) in the plating and when I scratched it I found that oxidation had formed underneath. The area quickly opened up to about the size of a pencil eraser. On the 50ZN13, there is a tiny (0.020") raised spot above the intake port. I am guessing that is also an oxidation issue under the plating but I haven't poked at it much yet. But being a raised point, I don't think a new ring would last long or the plating would fail.

So much for the good deal. I can't really blame the seller because these spots would not have been obvious in their original dirty state but it will be interesting to see how he treats this.
