everything gets batchit farking boring in Winter mate, myself included. that said, you are still a mothaphuckingcunt for making me spend $ to replace that 2100 you stole. But don't worry, I'm going feral for much of Winter soon and won't be around to bore the **** outta ya.

Until then, it's the downunder shopping channel for bored housewives...so...what's the point of rapid duro other than longer between grinds in dirty wood please fellas? It's slower, can't handle getting blunt and the associated heat, will still be buggered if rocked/hit staples/fencing wire, etc, so, does it last that much longer in dirty stuff that it's worth the $ guys? Or do I misunderstand it?

And if anyone can help me out on a few rolls of stihl chain, please can they PM me (if they don't want it made public) or let me know in here? I'm going full anal retentive with 3/8 chisel skip square ground and by this time next year I hope to have learned how to actually file it OK. Also PS, and some RM (or I'll grab some Canadian made carlton if I can find it or even try a few lesser names). Any help appreciated.

Whats with the square ground ?
Wondering why would ya wont to go there,sounds all to hard for little gains to me.
With the Canadian made Carlton i cant tell any dif in performance but the tye strap shape or was it the driver link, cant recall something is a little differant anyway than the old stuff.

If clean and green enough wood, RS is fun, productive, smooth. I figure square ground/filed will be more fun in such wood and learning how to square file sounds like a challenge I might enjoy. Maybe, if I get good enough at square filing, and find enough clean wood, a square grinder might be on the shopping list in a few years time.

RM or other semi-chisel is still the staple go-to chain for the firewood side of things though. But I asked about rapid duro because the main reason for RM is because it lasts better than RS in dirty wood, so perhaps an extension of that thinking is to do away with RM and just use RD and not have to change out half a dozen loops or more a day when bucking large, dirty firewood logs? But then I looked at the price of RD and can't see how it could be that much better. Also don't know how well it handles dense or dry woods compared to RM.

Regarding the carlton chain, I am only used to Canadian origin chain and I am just not sure how the new blount/oregon carlton is so thought I'd try and stick to what I am used to. Along those lines, my last roll of it was lazer brand, Canadian made.

I use 3/8th and on the big old filthy stuff a semi chisel or full chisel will not last to fell the tree, especially in red box. Ive failed to complete face and back cuts more than once because of blunting out...this is pretty common.

With the carbide I know I can get it done and not get stuck half way, or worse, so big safety issue solved with it. I also do all my lower cuts and stump cuts with carbide and my regular chain once I get a couple of mtrs up the trunk, away from the crap in the bark, the grit in the heart and the dust and sand in the shake and bark.

Makes a big difference to my day and production is heaps better.

If ya got clean green then ya i can see where the square stuff would be good.
I do use RS some times but there is allways the ****** bit that f-cks that nice set up chain ya had and it really really ***** me off.
When we are blocking i like to have 2 70 ish cc saws (441s or 461) set up one with RS and the other with RM for those ***** bits works a treat.
Carbite for me would be nice at times but its not cheap then ya nead a diamond wheel to sharpen it,na not for me.
You should should see the crap wood i have been blocking/splitting this week a RM chain will just last a tank of fuel but its easy to sharpen when re fuel i ues the Stihl 2 in 1 sharpener for that.
Chain i like the Stihl RM the best but for the price its not twice as good as the Carlton RM.

i had wanted it off,, but by myself axe was tad heavy and tricky to move & nigh impossible to get back on by myself so i left it on and in end it worked out ok...
its one then Chinese knock off borrowed from work, its ok did the job not as good as my long gone super axe but im thinkin to buy sumthin like it as swinging a maul to split 3 tons not high on my happy job list

that after dinner bourbon n coke went down so fast bit sleepy now

Yeap. Hilderbeast Cankles and the rest of the sociopaths should be behind bars. So much of the 'west' is riddled with self-serving phuckers, political or otherwise. When, not if, it implodes, this time around I hope it's a bloody good reset. I want to see people stew in their own unenlightened, immoral, greedy, batchit pharking tosspot induced chaos. I got food, good fresh water, fuel, defensible boundaries, etc and am finally finding a few like-minded 'fringe nut case fruit loop' people who will all help each other through and cast aside the phalanx of dickheads who will be grovelling, revolting, or throwing tantrums when the SHTF and they can't get onto facebook or go two days in a row without their favourite lattes, or their workplaces shut down and they can't meet the payments on the various BS status symbols they thought were so important they had to borrow up to their eyeballs to buy.
