The Husqvarna's I saw today seemed cheap.

As a 353 owner, I can say the saw feels less substantial (not flimsy) in my hands than my 038AV. However, at the end of the day, it starts easier, I'm less tired, and is harder to get hung up - probably due to the thin kerf chain.

If I could only take one into the woods, it would be the 353, but the Stihl would be within an hours walk.

I like my Husky 353 & 372XP. Availability, Performance, Price and Warranty sold me on Husky. I liked the Dolmar's but the sparse Dealer network and saw availability were the deciding factors.

:greenchainsaw:

It still annoys me that Stihl is supposedly superior yet they can't extend their warranty to 2 years like Husky.

I think Stihl should blow them all away with a 7 year warranty myself, but package it like Echo's 5 year warranty. I went by my Stihl dealer the other day who is also an Echo dealer and asked him about a trimmer I was looking at. I said Echo must be blowing the Stihls away with this warranty. He laughed and said what warranty? You mean the one that when something breaks, it's not covered under warranty? I was like, what do you mean? He pointed me to look at the exclusions in the warranty. Sure enough. What's going to break, not covered under warranty.

I dentical? For starters the 346 has magnesium cases while the 350's is plastic. The two saws are totaly differant.

You totaly missed his and my points Ben. Set those two saws side by side, other than the clamps on the airfilter, they look identical!! Same with the 353.

You meant Nelson... HA! HA!

Choke lever.

Don't get me wrong, I like 'em and I'll end up getting one. It's just that when I had a chance to see them all lined up in a row, it didn't look like a quality lineup.
They had a 353 and a 359 (these are pro Husky saws? I wasn't sure)
That choke lever would take some getting used to, but it won't stop me from buying one.
Am I understanding this correctly...the 346xp and the 353 are the same saw except for the piston/ cylinder sizes?
I'm considering getting a 346xp, due to it's light weight (than my 5100 dolmar) and power. The 359 is a pro saw? I thought the XP saws were the pro huskys'.
I'll probably get a husky, just because.
They still "look" kinda cheap.
I thought that Dolmar looked funny when I bought it.....but it sure doesn't cut funny.:)
I know the Husky's are great saws, I want to buy one that considered among the best of their lineup.
That's how I chose the saws I have. Everyone makes a dog, I looked for the ones with the great reputations. Some have more style to them as far as looks go. Like the MS440, for example.

TreeCo. Why the negative rep????

TreeCo,

You gave me a negative rep for my original post for this thread. Why? just because I said they looked cheap?
Why not just post something here if you don't agree? I'm sorry if you felt compelled to rep me with that little red square:clap:

My bad, dude. I'm sure they start looking better after a couple of beers.

For starting the latest brand bashing BS thread!

......and over and over and over!

Not sure he was bashing Dan, I think he was just confused. I had the same problems when I bought my 350. I looks like a cheap POS. Sorry, it does. It looks like the on/off and choke switches would break in a heartbeat. The whole saw is covered in cheap plastic that looks like if you dropped it wrong the whole saw is toast.
I didn't take it for more than that. I have run them more than enough to know that is not the case as well. I always recomend the 350 when it suits the outlined needs!! I think he was just shocked that they didn't look as beefy as what they looked like a few years ago. The same can be said of many saws.

Bashing???

How do you figure that I started the latest bashing thread.
Yesterday was the first time I've been to a store that had that many Husky's lined up on the shelves. So I commented:

I said I planned to buy a Husky
Then I said i thought as a whole, they looked cheap.
Then I later added that I still planned to buy one.
Then I asked a few questions about the various models, based on a few of the responses.
How do you figure bashing comes into play? they DO look a bit cheap.
Instead of trying to be the AS police, how about contributing something constructive?

Just talking saws.......you should try it.

That choke lever does look flimsy, I'm sure after buying one, I'll discover otherwise.
So, I wasn't bashing anything.
If someone were bashing anything....why would you care?
I don't.
Lighten up just a bit.

See ya around.

P.S. They had about 6 wild things on a shelf. That saw is famous, should be the signature saw here. I should get one for the hell of it.:chainsaw:

Dude if it was worth the time I'd go back and quote the dozen or so of your postings in the past month complaining about the brand wars.:buttkick:

Or maybe you were just confused.

Tell ya what, when I get some more time, I will do it for you!
I still don't think he came off that way, just was asking some honest questions about them.
