Hi guys(and girls) new saw time for me, only 2nd hand though , done two winters firewood apparently, 2165, backup to my 036 for thinning forests, anywhere from 400 - 800 trees a day, as always, depending on tree size, 65cc the jonsered, 61cc the stihl, I know why people rave about the 361 if the 036 is anything the same, the weight difference between the 2165 and 036 is negligible in the real world, check the bathroom scales, both saws 1/4 tank and 18" bar/chain, they feel different although I'm used to the 036, the 2165 is identical power from what I feel, but haven't done enough with the jonsered yet to really know, the good news is the jonsered 2165 is still a LIGHT saw with a ton of grunt, ideal for 1 foot to 1 1/2 foot diameter trees, I'm picking the 2170 is heavier again, although the publicity blurb states otherwise, 044's and 375's are the next step up with their associated inconveniences, typical husky clone, had to hit the clutch off the jonsered with screwdriver and heavy pliers, still haven't sussed the tank breather either, looks to be split the case for that from a casual glance, Zama carbs on both 036 and 2165, would prefer walbro but just on name only, zamas don't seem to play up much, so grudgingly admit they're just as good as walbros, wouldn't mind running an 066 carb for kicks, maybe even grind out the ports sideways on the worn 036 with a new aip piston, but will report back on the comparison between 2165 and 036 later

361 vs 036 pro.

I fully believe that the 036 pro saw was a better saw than the 361. I know I would rather have the 036. Very good saw to perform modifications to. Even only with a muffler mod, really nice medium sized machine.

You know, at first glance I thought that your wife must have monkeyed with the bathroom scale. Then I realized that it was in KG.!!!

What about the stone measurement underneath the kg! If I told someone how heavy I was in stones they would have no idea what I was talking about.

The 361, and the 372xp/2171, sure are a better option than any of those - but they will of course do just fine, if power to weight (and bulk) doesn't bother you.........

Not wishing to stir the pot here but I think my 2165 will stomp an 036. This isn't a brand issue, and I'm not throwing a dart at Stihl. I just think the 2165/365 is a 372 missing a few cc's, and they run accordingly, which is very close.

I was waiting for that post, my friend!!!!

Shouldn't it?

65cc to 60cc?

65cc to 60cc?

Actually not, as the independant test reports show about the same max power and max torque, at similar rpms (that is MS361 vs 365/2165, the 036/360 is not quite up there).......

..and the 361 is a lot lighter.....lol

Ralph said the same things at the gtg, about liking the 036 over the 361.

Guess someone is going to have to bring a 036 to a gtg so I can see for myself.

How much lighter is the 361 than an 036? While Im at it, how does the 440/441 relate in weight?

I was referring to 361 vs. 2165/365.

The 360 is just a tad heavier than the 361, but the 365 is more than a pound heavier, and a lot bulkier.

The 440 is a tad heavier than the 365, like the 372xp/2171, but the 441 is about a pound heavier, like the Husky 575xp......

If anyone really cares about specs. :buttkick: All info straight from STIHL manuals. Jred 2165 straight from manual too.

3.4KW range both on those specs, mine are drilled mufflers, no dawgs, maybe 3.5? but yep the 036 definitely more compact than that roomy inside 2165

Well I'm all for the 036 I weild it like a sword easily tweaked, even when I go back to it after using more powerful saws it is still my favorite. In fact mine tweaked agaist my buddy's 2171 is a pretty good show!

Just come on down to 'Vernon when we are out cutting firewood this fall and you can run my 036 all ya want. Its realy hard for me to find fault with an 036, I like 'em.

One of the good features of the 361, is the very fast trigger response/accelleration - it acts like a Husky xp in that regard, maybe even better.....

Did I read that right, you are wanting to have a mini gtg to get your firewood cut up for the season. :jester:

So when you going to have this fall gtg? :hmm3grin2orange:
