hey all,

if i was to buy a 346 xp new edition in the USA, is there different types?

i have read about different mufflers etc, but cant remember where and what posts?

if more than i type availabe, which is the one to go for?

cheers, Serg

Some early 346XP NE in the US did not have the CAT muffler. They all do now, unless someone has one that has been sitting on the shelf. The non-CAT muffler can be purchased seperate for +/-$30.

No buts......

Just do it....

Right!

Btw, here you have to pay about 60USD extra if you want an e-tech (cat muffler) - and in Sweden you can't buy them without.......:dizzy:

Yes that's true. My dealer converted mine to Non-Etech though before he delivered it. (Don't know if he made something more, it runs like Bill CLinton after a hot chic as someone put it..and it has a real nice sound, much closer to the 2171 than the 353)

The 2153s are sold in Sweden without CAT. At least without heated handles, with WH, maybe you get the CAT, don't know.

cheers,

is there any difference between the orange chainbrake/clutch cover and the gray/silver chainbrake/clutch cover

the saw with orange cover is a 2007 model

cheers, Serg

All the NE 50cc ones should have the silver/gray cover, primer bulb and decomp valve (unless it is plugged).

The starter cover and top cover also is different.

The clutch cover is the same, but for the paint.

I sold one of each yesterday. A 346NE and a 2153. Leaving the cat on will cut down on your firewood needs, because that muffler throws enough heat to warm half your house. It's really got to go.

Hey.... maybe the epa will let us do it if we install say 10 of the removed NE mufflers in our "uncertified" woodstoves :greenchainsaw:

ok so if its all orange its an old edition.

so what date did they change over?

cheers, Serg

Not sure, but my NE one was the first I ever heard of to hit the actual market, and it was made week 35 2007.

It does not have the cat muffler, and you even have to pay extra for it here.

can someone give me the part # for the non-cat muffler to suit 346xpNE

cheers, Serg
Yep. Here's the number. This was non-cat in the 1st place. Now even better.
