262XP bar/chain set-up

I use a 18" bar and 8 pin rim and .325 chain and I believe that that setup is optimal for the 262xp for my use.
It doesn't tax the saw in either hard or softwood like a longer bar would and the 8 pin sprocket allows good chain speed for limbing.
If the wood is too big, you have to cut from both sides but other than that It works perfectly.
I was thinking about a 20" but there is really no need.
Try the 8 pin rim they work well.
 
Using an 8 pin and the .325 is attractive to me in that I will be able to switch bars and chains between my two saws. Maybe I'll pick up an 18" bar/chain and the 8 pin rim to give it a whirl. Sounds like it works for you Lorax.

I like to keep things simple as possible, and using the same bars/chains would help.
