Never saw a muffler on a 262XP that looked like this.
Is it stock or is a mod?
If it's a mod, what are the parts from?

That is a sweet looking saw! I would have to say that is NOT OEM. ;)

Bought it off Craigslist in Seattle about two years ago. It was listed under General merchandise.
The saw runs great! Perfect for this time of the year.
The exhaust port on the side of the muffler looks bigger too.

A 288 deflector?, I'd like to make use of this part on other saw mufflers
Anyone have a part number?

.

Here's the one it looks like. HVP 503 07 83 01
Here's another that's $5 cheaper and a tiny bit smaller. HVP 503 58 99 01
Here's a picture of both of them side by side. The top number is the one mounted on the muffler. The other one is the cheaper one. It's not as high in the center but the measurements are real close.

Sure looks like one of those.
I'd like to use that style mod on my 357 and 359. Attatch the deflector to the face of the support bracket.
I like to use a screen in a muffler on work saw. It prevents suck back!

I am really surpriced that you (of all people) are not well aware that deflector is very popular for muffler mods!
