I know the 357 is a professional saw with better options and a slightly bigger cc motor, but is it worth the jump and would I see a difference in performance?

Oh God yeah!!

I'd bet a stock 346 will run with a 455 in 12" wood.

I did the muff mod, base gasket delete, updated Walbro 199 kit, some transfer port matching and chamfering of bridges to my 357. I'm not saying it's a "hot saw" but dang if she doesn't have a bad attitude now!

If you have a chance to scoop up a nice 357 you better jump on it. They don't seem to pop up very often at all lately.... You won't regret it.
