I am getting ready to install a chimney liner for a wood stove insert.

My chimney has 2 flues, one for the fireplace & one for the furnace. Both are 9" X 13" and they are side by side about an inch or two apart.

I am confused about the top plate installation. Every top plate I have looked at online would block the furnace flue.

Are there special top plates for a chimney with two flues side by side? If so where can I find one?

Or do I just modify the typical top plate by cutting it to fit?

I have a chimney just like yours, and what I did was add another 12" tile to the top of the fireplace side, then mounted the liner cap on top of that.

The bag of mortar and a 12" tile cost me about $15.00 and was an easy solution.

I would say as long as you can use adhesive on the plate to secure it to the flue, you should be able to cut it. I'm no expert. Mine was professionally installed and the adhesive let go. Now the plate just keeps the pipe from falling down into the flue, resting on the tile.
