I have an Oympyk 264 with a clogged muffler making it impossible to operate the pull start. The muffler is a one piece unit that cant be opened.

The outside is good, it seems a shame to throw it just because deposits have built up inside. Can they be cleaned out removed by soaking in some caustic solution, or what do you guys do?

bbq muffler that is the only way to do it ^^^^^
it is usually done when the carbon turns grey and powders out.

Shooters Choice shotgun choke cleaner loosens the carbon pretty good. I use it on the screens to quickly clean them.

It may not clean a muffler all out but it gets the carbon loose enough that part of it washes right out.

It may be worth trying before and after burning it out.

I also use a propane torch to do that kinda jobs. It isn't a big risk, just don't go to close.

Yeah works better if you take it off the saw first.
