I picked up a great condition 288 and tore it down to go through it, Im gonna leave the base gasket out and use sealant. Question is on saw with impulse ports from crankcase to cylinder, how does one insure that sealant does not get squezzed into the impulse port? Also, What would cause bar oil to weep from oil tank breather? And finally those of you with 288's is it beneficial to change out the AV springs to "hard" rubber? The saw was only used 3 times before I bought it and the springs feel pretty soft, I can only imagine what it will be like with a longer bar on it
