I was working this tree and decided to quit and go home. There’s not way to climb on either of the limbs as they’re hollow. One is over the house and the other a power line. I had considered hinge cutting it into the back yard as is but decided it’s beyond my skills

Good on you for recognizing your limitations and knowing when to stop.

Can you get an articulating boom lift in there and safely maneuver it around the power lines? Something like this - hitch it up to your truck and move it into place.

They can be rented for about $250/day. That may be your best option.

+1 on the renting a boom lift and service line drop. If you can't get a boom lift in the back yard (and you may get creative like taking apart fences and such to make that happen) you may be able to get on that roof and pole saw a lot of the weight off that branch, then climb up and chunk it down. I suspect if you tried to hinge down the whole thing, the hinge would fail under all that weight, and the branch would land on the house.

Good luck sir.

Thank you all so much for the help. I was only going to get 250$ for the hole thing so I have him another company’s number.

On another note does anyone know a name for This knot?

The hollow showing in the pic probly makes it about 3% weaker.

Next side job you look at, bring in a pro who can show you how to do it! If you knew more you could've charged 2x or more.

We rented a boom for two days and went SLOW nothing fell on houses garage children pets or vehicles- we used ropes, it was slow, but in the end, we got a new foundation dug where a 50ft rotting maple once stood- blessings and aloha (and some maple to slab)
