Any one know how to measure the square feet of a fire box?

I did length x height x width but it didn't seem correct.

thanks

my firebox is a cylinder. 48 inches long and 30 inches round. Therefore I have a firebox containing 78.5 cubic feet.

Yes, height by width by length. Measure in inches and convert to feet by dividing each number by 12 first, then multiply them all out (I did spend 6 years in engineering school. LOL)

cylindrical fire box

A 30 inch cylinder 48 inches long contains 19.635 cubic feet. ie. pi x radius squared x length radius = 1.25 feet length = 4 feet

Huge help thank you.

so that gives my fire box 1.5 cubic feet.

So if I upgrade from 1.5 to a 2.0 or 2.1 square foot fire box, do you guys find it as a big difference in heat output an burn times?

LOL You have obviously never tried to fill it and keep it full. Yes you are correct 19.625
It will make a heaping wheel barrel full of wood disappear overnight.

I am no math genius

I used the diameter as opposed to the radius... Big difference aye?
If I had a 75 cubic feet firebox maybe I could get 24 hour burns like a lot of these guys here get.
