The biggest warranty challenge I face is dealing with the stream of BS, that the customer is fed by the mass merchant, and by desk jockies at the manufacturer. Typical problem customer buys a Toro mower at Home Depot, the unit is improperly handled and deck spindle gets buggered up. The customer calls HD and says I bought a Toro mower there a month ago and something is wrong with the deck, HD tell him it's covered under warranty since it's only a month old, and to call Toro about it. Customers calls Toro, and they tell the customer to call us a Warranty dealer to have it repaired since it's covered under warranty. Customer call us tell us that Toro and HD say his mower needs repairs and it's covered under warranty since it's a month old, and he needs it pick up to be repaired. We the dealer now have to be the bad guy and tell them that we have to look at and file for warranty and if they don't approve it, he has to pay for. And then we tell him that the warranty doesn't cover the pick up and delivery, so he'll have to pay for that. And now we have to deal with a guy pissed at us because he was LIED TO by both the people that sold him the unit, and the company that made the unit. And we have 1 pissed off guy and we haven't made a dime on the mower yet but had to deal with all of the headaches, that the box store and pansies at Toro didn't want to deal with. This the BS we have to deal with on a daily basis.
