So I’m new to working on saws. I really enjoy it though. I am wanting to refresh this 268, and get some more power out of it. Thinking of doing a new 272 top end and some porting, base gasket delete, hd filter, muffler mod,. What else do I need to replace bearings, seals ?? Ect. It sat in a guys shop for years because someone told him it needed to be rebuilt but it just had dirty ignition.

Does it run good now?
If it works fine and doesnt show any signs of air leaks just swap the top ends and port it.
If it shows any signs at all of an air leak do the bearings/seals before building it.

It does run ok. The compression is low around 100. I plan on keeping this saw so I think I’m going to replace all the bearings hoses and seals .
