Saturday started clearing a 10acer pine stand. guy won'ts all scrub pines and hard wood gone to give the bigger pines room to grow. All I took was my 028.
Little saw did a great job, but when I got to bigger hard wood wished I had brought something with a little more umfff. So here's my plan.
I think I'll put a 25" bar on my 038 mag. Buy a 361 with a 20" bar, keep the
18" on my 028., Use the little poulan xxv for tree trimming off the ground. I think the 361 would have been perfect for this. some of the hard wood I drop were 30" plus.
What Ya'll Think????

only problem with increasing to the 4 saw plan is it will soon turn into the 6 saw plan.

Why keep the 028 in the "active" lineup - it weights the same as the 361........LOL

:greenchainsaw:

I think I'l keep it in the plan because it's just so dependable. I can carrie it to a job with a couple of xtra chains and know I'll do a days sawing. That says a lot. Its starts secound pull cold and frist every time when warmed up!!!
ALways been that way.

The 361 is a nice saw and it has been known on this site to cause spontaneous ecstasy with its users. But it's too close in power to your 038 Mag (4.4 versus around 5 HP, I think). I'd step on up to either a 460, 372 or 7900.

..and so it starts....:greenchainsaw:

Stay with your orginal plan... Nice set of saws. The 38M might be closer in HP, but it has a lot more torque for big wood. The 361 is a lot nicer to use.

Before I started reading this forum, I owned one saw.

After lurking for a while, reading the posts, I decided I needed two saws.

Then I joined, asked a few questions, and discovered I wouldn't be complete without three saws.

Now I have four. I need to quit coming to this place.

Not a bad saw plan.......

Think about retiring the Poulan and getting an ms200 for ground work.

You will add a 660 also, you just don't know it yet.

welp. her goes. your 4 saw can be thrown out the window...

you need

0-40cc
0-53cc
0-65cc
0-75cc
0-80cc
0-90cc

that shoud be a fairly good 6 saw plan with room to increase...

The 90cc plus comes into play about 6-8 months after you fulfill you largest saw dreams (which was previously the 0-90cc!)
