Right now my dilemma is that a buddy of mine wants to buy my 562xp and give me his 2159 towards trade in. My though is buy the 2253 since we share saws and we don't have a 50cc saw. Most trees I cut range from 10"-24". Or do I go in the middle and get a 2258/2260? I want to run 16" 3/8 .050 and 20 on occasion

I like a 2159/ 359. Bought 2 of them when I bought my 562xpw. Got them all ported at the same time by the same feller. Got them all back same time. One 359 was nos. The other was clean/ rebuilt. Both 359s got walbro carbs and "full on" port jobs. Sold the 562 a week after I got it back. I had the same money in both 359s that I had in the one 562. Just liked the 359 better. Only one I have left of that bunch is the nos 359 now with 3 tanks of fuel thru it. Point being- you might really like that 359. There is nothing impressive about them stock, but both Brad and Randy at one time or another said that the 359 had the most impressive response to porting of any saw they had done up until that point. Im not sure that is still the case- but it is a pretty big statement about the saws potential. I really like mine.

IDK if this helps you any but, I have a stock 2159 and I run an 18" 3/8 0.050 full comp setup and it handles it quite well. I have a 20" bar but have never tried it on the 2159. I imagine it would be ok with it but might slow a little with the tip burried (20" is max recommended per OEM). It would be interested in seeing the 2159 after porting...

OTOH, a 2260 is meant to be the more full time professional saw over the 2159 and 2258 and toutes about one half more HP more power (advertised). If all three saws were available for the same price I would go with the 2260, more power, same weight and less vibration over the 2159.

I'd probably pass on the smaller 2253. Eventhough its over a LB lighter than the 2260, it also has almost 1 hp less power. The difference is 50 vs 60 cc's. You'll want those extra cc's when you put that 20" bar on IMO.

Thats a 70cc saw, where do you want to draw the line? You stated you didnt have a 50cc saw and now your asking about a 70cc saw haha. Are you looking to stay in the 50cc size or replace the 562 with something in red and balck trim? :chainsaw:

I personally wouldn't want to slug a 2166 around for limbing or even continious use for bucking rounds in 10-24" wood, especially if your only going to get a few trees come through that are 24", it would make the most sense to stay with a 2260 and a 20" bar IMO.

Take the 2159 and put some hours on it and see how you feel about it. It will never replace the 562 but if thats what your after I would recommend the 2260. Eat your wheaties if you buy the 2166, its 14 lbs of animal.

I've had a 359 before. Just not my type. I've recently been cutting some 24"+ wood lately do I just want to see what you guys thought. Even tho I will sell my 562 a can always use it since my buddy lives right down the road from me.

You wont be asking to borrow the 562 if you have a 2260 or the 2166. If I was goin to invest in the 2166 I'd jump for the 2172, more power, same displacement and same claimed weight.

As it sounds to me, you should just keep your 562xp, and buy a 550xp or 2253 if you feel that you need it!

Also you might be better off with .058 than with .050, but no big deal unless you have clogging or oiling issues with .050.

Just forget the 2159, you won't like it after running the 562xp! ;)

I'd save the money and make the 2166 a 2172 in a few minutes of work.

Well gee if your gonna share a saw let the other dude buy the nice new saws. How bad does he want the 562? Could take the 2159 & get it ported with the extra cash?

It's the same saw. Only difference is that the 2166 has baffles in the transfers caps. It's easily fixed. And you end up with a 2172 for $150 less.

Agreed. Nothing against the 2159 but the OP does already have a 562, ,one of the best 60cc out there.

Keep the 562 and if anything, pick up something smaller for limbing if and when.

i have a 2165, 2260, 2156 ported (no where near as powerful as my 2260 stock), and a sweet 2152 ported. since i bought the 2260 ive also wanted a 2252 0r 2253, they are very nicely balanced and simpler in the controls also. but i rarely use the 2156 or 2152 when the 2260 is lighter feeling (small mount bar) than the 56. i log every day cutting all size trees. and its hard to bet a 2260. good luck!
