Here are some pics of my latest saw mod a Husqvarna 55 I purchased the saw for $30.00 it was straight gassed needed P&C and crank bearings. Here are some pics of the transfers I did them today. I am waiting for the crank bearings then I will be able to take my measurements and have the base turned down then finish the intake and exhaust ports.

Here is the crankcase all painted and ready to go just waiting for the gasket then I can assemble the it and take my measurements. Then send the jug out to get it cut I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Looking good so far. I hear you may be doing this build for someone I know.
It is possible it just depends on how much I wind up having into the saw by the time it is done I do not know if it will be economical to sell or better yet for someone to buy. But I am interested to see if it will outperform my 026. Everything is for sale for the right price.

Here are some progress pics it is starting to look like a saw. The final measurement is squish sits at .035. So I will have .017 taken off of the base of the jug.

55 Done with pics

I finished this bad boy up got the cylinder back from the machine shop friday did the intake and exhaust ports tonight and assembly she is ready to go. It sure seems to have a whole bunch of compression. It really pulls over like a bear. I will have to test the compression some day. Maybe I will fire her up tomorrow.

I second that! Vid please. Great work. Have always been a fan of the 55. What are you using for the heat shield on the brake handle and leading portion of the clutch cover? Looks like a good idea.

It is a product made by Thermo Tec it is called Aluminized Heat Barrier its the adhesive is rated to 300 degrees and the fiberglass is good up to 2000 degrees. It is part # 13500 ordered from Summit racing.

Great workmanship, good pictures. Where did you get the matching paint. I have a 55 I am working on. Its the second one I've owned thru the years. I like it above most of the Husky saws. They are just the right size for cutting wood and small logs of pine and red cedar. Anyway good job how well does these mod saws hold up under use? Would like to mod my 55 a little but not enough to make it unreliable or expensive what would you recommend. Thanks for the ideas.

We want to see how she runs now looks like some really clean port work and polishing. What did you use to get such a smooth polish on the transfers and exhaust?
