I've been running 371 then 372s since they came out with mainly 24 sometimes
28
They were stock back then
Did the job day in day out.
Started with the ported saws a few year's ago.
But i'm still just fine running a stock saw all day.

I can get a 372 xp low profile here locally for 550$. Good deal or? And how would it compare to a 440 or 460 stihl?

Are they available to everyone at 550 for a new oem 372? Can you say who has them?

461 will get it down no problem but money was no significant object I'd go with a 661 because hardwood takes long enough to cut already and you can pull a longer bar to get through the trunk flair at the base of the tree. if you're talking 24" to 30" inches DBH you're gonna be doing at least another 6 inches at the base and hardwood is high value so cutting low with more power in that extra-dense butt log may pay off imho.

Im gonna say a 372xp or a nice 576xp (little heavier though i believe) also but Ive gone all orange now so.....

Looking to do some logging on a small scale, was looking for a bit better chainsaw, Currently have a ms290 that i cut firewood with and clean up around the farm with. Looking for opinions. Going to be cutting mainly hardwoods no bigger than 24" to 30" across.

For production falling out here I run a 390 with a 32" or 36" bar semi skip chains or a 395 36" up to 60" in the PNW. I've ran 372's hopped up and stock I've never cared for them for a light little hot runner I love my 562 with a 28 or 32 even for cutting our red alder out here.

That will still be a lot smaller saw than the husky ,the model # s are similar but the husky is a lot bigger engine ,if doing one time logging maybe consider a used ms440 ,then you can still use it for a firewood saw when done. The 291-391 stihl is a plastic cased homeowner saw ,the saws ones being recommend are pro magnesium cased saws

ms391 is not what you want for this.

I personally like a strong 60cc for logging and would get a Husqvarna 555 or 562xp if buying new.

He was talking about the 88cc 390 Hushy.

Not the Farmtronic 390.
