Wondering if there are any choppers who have any info on running these trucks. What to look for? Having a hard time finding any info on the net about these rigs. Truck runs good. Boom is tight. Idles steady. Just over 20 years old and dont have 20k for a bucket truck.

1983 International S1800 DT466 diesel. 60K. Former asplundh truck.

Cant find the exact GVW. Wikipedia says 24500

Any info is appreciated

Thanks

Jonny

I don't know about buckets, but I have a similar year 2574 with Cummins and it's a good truck.

Have a qualified inspector look at the boom, check for dielectric testing. A cut in the fibreglass boom, 1/4" wide x 1/4" deep and an 1" long requires qualified repair (ie expensive).

Do a leak down test.

There's an old thread on here where Sgtgreenbeans bought an old bucket and found that structural damage in the boom had been repaired with bondo. You should do a search for it.

Don't know about the truck, for the most part, if something fails, it won't kill you. If the boom collapses, you are gonna hurt.
