Pulled my PM8200 down to see how bad it really was and found this. Started a thread on Opie in the Mac sticky to give the die-hards here a break from "Hey! I finally discovered my Macs!" LOL
Comments and theories welcomed, of course. The rings were still free and the saw may even have started except for a non-functioning recoil assembly. Cylinder shows very little evidence of the piston wear aside from some streaking and minor scratching just above the intake port..., maybe a hint of transfer on the exhaust side just below the combustion chamber, which is a strange place to find transfer. This piston has somehow been worn down, not melted down...., in a very, very short period of time.

Looks a lot like ingestion on the intake side.
